Regenerative
Bhutan
An effort to delineate pathways to the adoption of timber and other renewable materials and building systems
To align building design and construction practice with that vision and to promote potential synergies between regenerative forestry practices, a robust building economy with significantly reduced ecological impact, and the healthy growth and management of the country’s cityscapes, Bhutan’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport formed a Mass Timber Working Group, an interdisciplinary team of comprised of experts in sustainable forestry, architecture, engineering, engineered timber manufacturing and construction technology, and real estate finance and investment. The Working Group’s primary mandate was to examine the technical and inancial feasibility of building a domestic Mass Timber manufacturing facility that could sustainably supply.
