A long gable structure with sloping ridge navigates the site’s topography to expose three full stories of living space. The building’s singular form kinks, drops and tapers to avoid setback encroachments as it extends across one edge of the porkchop-shaped property. A small accessory building containing an office, small bedroom and yoga loft provides a kind of architectural punctuation that frames views from the lawn northward to “the Cut” and the open Atlantic beyond.
Dark exterior metal cladding with wood accenting the main entry and the primary bedroom dormer overlooking the compound and pond serve to unify the two structures. Photo-voltaic panels powering heat exchangers combine with high performance details and passive energy techniques to reduce the building’s operational costs.
